O is for Over

Moments don't last forever - savor them.

In the blink of an eye, it seems, the newborn baby with a scrunched up little face and a high pitched pitiful cry becomes smiley and interactive. The infant who was so helpless can now roll over, sit up, and crawl. The screeches become babbling, cooing, giggling, and sometimes louder wails!  And then, suddenly the baby emits sounds we can decipher. Babyhood is over and toddler-hood begins!

And on and on it goes. We think life is long, but we are only here for a short time. Life on earth is usually over in one hundred years or less. We are 'but a breath' as the writer says in the book of Proverbs.

We are often reminded to enjoy the moments we are in because they disappear just. like. that.

It's true.

  1. So true. Life is so fleeting and the Bible says that a few times in various words. I look back and wonder how I can have gotten to this age at 61. Where did it all go? I tell young moms don't rush things, enjoy everything and don't wish for their kids to sleep through the night, etc., It will happen sooner than they think. A lovely young woman I mentored when we were in Montana recently wrote on her Facebook page something to the effect that when she had her first baby people told her it would go by so incredibly fast and she scoffed at them. She's 2 years away from her oldest turning 18 and she said "yep, it went by so incredibly fast."
