~ Rain ~ (Five Minute Friday)

Rain. All of us experience rain in our lives, metaphorically speaking. When the storm clouds threaten, we might even see the ominous sheets of rain from a distance, knowing that they're moving our way and soon we will be in the middle of the mess, soaking wet. Or perhaps, we find some sort of shelter that keeps us from experiencing the worst of it.

Rain. It is a gift as well. Who doesn't love to watch seeds sprout and grow into plants? Who doesn't love to walk  barefoot on a thick, green, healthy lawn? Who doesn't love the fragrance after the rain? Without rain, none of this would happen.

I love to camp, and it's funny that we always hope it won't rain when we go on a holiday. But, you know, there's nothing better than seeing the sun break out after a downpour, and inhaling deeply of the fresh air after the rain.

Rain

I've decided to join the Five Minute Friday link up, and this post is my contribution. :)

Spring is in Bloom

I have to say, I was spoiled by my children this past Mother's Day. Spoiled with flowers and more!

My soon to be daughter-in-law speaks my language when it comes to flowers! I first met her just over a year ago, the week before Mother's Day. She brought along a bouquet of flowers for me, along with a hug. How sweet is that? Then the next week, she and my son brought me more cut flowers for Mother's Day. And this year..another bouquet. Yes, please. Thank you very much! :) I think I'll keep her!

There is something about fresh flowers, inside or outside! Have you planted any flowers this Spring?

Spring Things

I think Spring is my favorite time of year. It's not too hot, the occasional downpours make everything so green and the outdoors has a fresh fragrance that reminds me of camping. And I do love to camp! As well, as much as am no expert gardener, I do love to watch things grow! Once those seeds or little plants are in the ground, I check back often just to see what's going on. And YES, things are going on!

I have a VERY small garden plot, but I treat it like a square foot garden and it seems to hold quite a bit (including peas, tomatoes, beans, carrots, beets, kale, and spinach). Last fall I planted a row of organic garlic and this Spring they came up in full force as soon as the weather warmed. What a treat to watch them take off! And they smell so... garlicy (I love garlic). I can't wait till the scapes appear and I'll be able to cut them off and fry them up. My strawberries are blossoming and little green berries have appeared. My herbs are doing well in their own little pot, and my sunflowers have peeked through the dirt and I am anticipating enjoying them, too. I begged my hubby not to weed whack the wild daisies growing along our pool fence, and he relented. I like the wild look! The other day I saw some crows heading to my garden. Not sure what they want with it, but I decided to set up the plastic owl on the corner of the pool fence, a great vantage point for keeping eye on my plants. So far, no crows have returned. Could it be a coincidence or is this owl really doing its job? Whoooo knows? ;)

Have you planted a garden this Spring? Planters, plot, or both?

Seeing Green

Green is one of my favorite colors. It reminds me of summer, life, happiness, peacefulness, freshness, and a lot of other pleasant words. In the middle of the coldness and deadness of the winter season, I see green. That's what Christmas is all about..hope, life, peace.

I wish I had taken a picture of my daughter in law's new sweater she recently purchased. It is the most fantastic Christmas green, and with her red hair, she looks so...perfectly festive!

As I scan my surroundings from my perch on the stool, I look around and see green...
