It is with great joy that we announce the (unexpected) arrival of our newest addition.
Meet “Westy” (for lack of a better name.. any ideas?)
My husband loves VW’s. He’s owned a number of Bugs and even for a short time we owned a VW Station Wagon (don’t remind me about that, please!) We’ve considered owning a VW Camper a number of times over the years, but it was never the ‘right’ time or a ‘good’ time to buy.
Then, out of the blue, it seemed, we had the opportunity to purchase this 1986 Wolfsburg Edition Weekender style VW Van.
Was it love at first sight? Probably not, but almost. Yes, he’s old. Yes, he needs a little TLC, but yes, he’s also been looked after (as far as we can tell so far) including meticulous recordkeeping (of all work done/receipts, etc) by the now former owner.
After taking a little time to consider, even taking the risk that someone else would snatch him before we made up our minds, last week we looked at each other and did something crazy. We adopted Westy.
Why now? Well, we will be married 30 years this summer... Isn’t that a great way to celebrate!?
Two weeks ago, we had no clue Westy would be residing in our driveway. Now, he’s ours. And all the joys and sorrows that go along with owning him.
We’re so excited!

Wow! Will you be repainting it yellow with flowers and peace signs? LOL Can't wait to hear of the adventures you all have together.
